Executive and Board of Directors Meeting

CALL TO ORDER - Beth Ann Surber, President

President Surber called the meeting to order at 6:20 p.m. and welcomed everyone to her home and invited everyone to food and refreshments.

George, Emily Hopta, Linda Jernigan, Helen Lodge, Janice Lessley, Sallie McClaugherty, Elizabeth McConnell, Jeanne Moore, Kay Morgan, Jane Powell, Iris Riggs, Missy Rubin, Dee Rumbaugh, Phyllis Sherman, Beth Ann Surber, Yolanda Tam, Sara Walker.

SECRETARY’S REPORT - Emily Hopta, Secretary

President-Elect Tam circulated an attendance sheet.

TREASURER’S REPORT - Jane Powell, Treasurer

Treasurer Powell distributed the 2007-2008 WVSL Projected Budget.
Sallie McClaugherty motioned the budget be approved as presented.
Patti Carnemolla seconded. The motion carried.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT - Beth Ann Surber, President

President Surber distributed 2007-2008 WVSL General Meeting dates & Executive and Board of Directors. Fundraising Event dates were also distributed. Meeting dates, times, and locations will be posted on the WVSL website.

VP COMMUNITY SERVICES REPORT - JoEllen Zacks

VP FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE REPORT - Dee Rumbaugh and Kathy Beckett

Symphony Ball Missy Rubin, Kay Morgan

Missy Rubin reported the Ball will be held at the Marriott November 30, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. The proposed theme is “All Aboard the Orient Express.” The committee is meeting to finalize details.

Teddy Bear Tea Ilene Beckett

Ilene Beckett reported the Tea will be held at the Marriottt December 2, 2007. The League will partner with the Charleston Ballet once again for the 2nd annual tea.

Symphony Sunday 2007 Shelia Neal, Rosalie Gaziano, Helen Lodge

Shelia Neal reported the theme will be a community welcoming theme. There will be once again a Children’s tent. The WVSO will again perform and there will be fireworks. The rehearsal dinner will take place May 31, 2008. The brunch will take place the day of Symphony Sunday, June 1, 2008. The committee is continues the planning.

ADDITIONAL COMMITTEE REPORTS

Winter Event Patti Carnemolla, Kelly George

Patti Carnemolla reported approximately $2,000.00 was raised from the Kroger cards. Patti motioned to order 50 additional cards (at $5 each) to make available for new and existing League members to purchase. She reminded everyone to re-load the cards for use at the Kroger’s grocery store or Kroger’s gas station. The card must be loaded prior to check out. It is simple to add to the card with cash or credit card by visiting the Customer Service Desk. Kelly George seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Melonious Merchandise Linda Jernigan

Linda Jernigan reported she would have merchandise available at the Fall General meeting.Janice Lessley reported to date five new League members. Please think of friends and others who would like to join the League. Formal invitations are available.

NEW BUSINESS

President Surber reported the Fall General Meeting at the Governor’s Mansion will be a cost to the League of $300 (or more). In the previous year, for tea, coffee, and light pastries, $5 was asked of each member and guests with their RSVP. After brief discussion by members present, Patti Carnemolla motioned not to charge members and guests for attending the Governor’s Mansion. Helen Lodge seconded. The motion carried.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

President Surber reminded everyone that RSVP’s for the Fall General meeting is mandatory for security purposes. Sara Walker reported, she established a special phone number for RSVP’s to the Fall meeting. The next Executive and Board of Directors meeting will be October 24, 2007 in the Governor’s Press Conference Room, State Capitol, at 5:30 p.m.

ADJOURNMENT

With no further business to come before the league, President Surber thanked everyone for attending tonight’s meeting and adjourned the meeting at 7:33 p.m.
